A: Can you please tell me something about the tourist attractions in India?

B: Sure, why not. One of the seven wonders of the world is there: it is called the ‘Taj Mahal’ in the Indian city of Agra, not far from the capital, New Delhi. It is easy to get there by train, bus or plane.

A: Oh! That’s wonderful. I heard a lot about the ‘Taj Mahal’ during my childhood and have wanted to visit it ever since. I’m planning a trip there. Can you recommend some other sites?

B: Definitely. Jaipur is another historic city about 4 hours drive out of Delhi. There are many palaces and forts which are a favorite amongst the tourists like ‘Jai Mahal Palace’, ‘Rambagh Palace’, ‘Hawa Mahal’,‘Amber Fort’, ‘Jantar Mantar’ and so on. You must also try the Indian food or ‘curry’ as it is known in other parts of the world. In fact, Indian food is the most popular amongst foreign cuisines.

A: Wow! My mouth is watering already. I have heard of the curries and the spices for which India is famous since ancient times.

B: That's true. Travellers in the past have travelled long distances from half way round the world to go to India for trading spices and gemstones. You can also try some Indian clothes and shoes which are famous in Rajasthan state. Also the jewelry is very popular with visitors.

A: I guess there is a lot to do then. I will have my hands full.

B: Yes. You can also have a ride on the elephant or camel that is really exciting. They will take you around the forts and palaces. Do not forget to see the snake charmers who play music while a snake dances in a basket.

A: Oh yes! I have read about that and also seen it in some Hindi movies. The songs and dances are also very exciting and the clothes worn by the actors are very colourful.
