【 as soon as / directly / immediately / once的用法 】

这几个词的意思都是“一……就……”.用来表示从句动作一发生，主句动作随即就发生。要求主句与从句使用相同的时态。

【例】As soon as I got home, it began to rain.

找一到家，天就下雨了。(主句与从句使用了相同的时态)

Directly I had done it, I had made a mistake.

我刚做完这件事，这件今就成一r我的一个错误。

(主句与从句使用了相同的时态）

Once。beginning is made, the work is hall done.

工作一旦开始，便可说完成一半了。(主句与从句使用了相同的时态)

【 hardly / scarcely... when 和no sooner... than的用法 】

这几组词的意思也都是“一……就··…，但是动作略有先后.通常表示主句动作先于从句动作发生，所以当hardly / scarcely / no sooner所在的主句使用过去完成时的时候,when /than所在的从句要求用一般过去时。另外.如果hardly, scarcely或no sooner置于句首，句子必须用倒装结构。此句型可以和as soon as转换。

【例】I had hardly/scarcely sat down when the telephone rang.

我刚坐下.电话铃就响了。（主句用过去完成时，从句用一般过去时)

He had no sooner closed the door than someone started knocking at it.

他刚关上门，就有人敲门。(主句用过去完成时，从句用一般过去时)

As soon as he saw the policeman, he ran away.

= He had hardly seen the policeman when he nut away.

= Hardly had he seen the policeman when he ran away.

= He had no sooner seen the policeman than he ran away.

= No sooner had he seen the policeman than he ran away.

他一看见警察就跑了。
