My Angel Friend

Everyone should have a guardian angel for a friend. I know I do. I met my friendin the seventh grade and we’ve been friends for thirty six years. We both gotmarried young and our husbands are also friends. We had our daughters just eightmonths apart.

When my daughter was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of eight, my friend wasright there, eager to learn whatever it took to keep my daughter healthy. Shelearned how to draw up the insulin and comfortable giving my daughter herinjections. She wanted my daughter to still have the freedom of spending time ather home and to give me needed breaks from time to time.

A couple of years later I found out I had breast cancer. After having amastectomy, my friend was there to cry with me and to encourage me, even when Iwas at my lowest. She took time from her busy schedule to drive me to and frommy chemotherapy treatments.

In February of 2000, my mother was dying. We took her home from the hospital soshe could be with us during her last days. Again my friend was there, not onlyfor me but the rest of my family members. I don't think we would’ve handled itemotionally if it hadn't been for my friend's love and devotion.

She's always been my strength when things became rough. There have been timeswhen I felt others have let me down, but I can always count on my friend to bethere for me emotionally and spiritually. I'm so blessed to have my own guardianangel.
